Read John 3:16-20
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17
Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. Romans 6:13
Do you know what Christmas carol used to drive me crazy?....The Little Drummer Boy! I thought, what is with all the pa rum pum pum pums? Who is the little drummer boy anyway? Where did he come from? I would just skip over the song.
Then one day I heard a version of it that was so beautiful and I took time to listen to the verses. “I have no gift to bring…that’s fit to give our King.” Wow – what gift do I have to give our King?
What are you giving Jesus for His birthday? We spend so much money and time on getting the perfect gifts and wrapping them, on baking cookies and decorating. Spend some time with Jesus this Christmas. That’s what He wants. A relationship with you. What a gift! You! Just as you are. “The Little Drummer Boy” is now one of my favorite Christmas carols.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, some of the most precious gifts we can give You are the gifts of our time, our focus, our devotion, and our obedience. If we skip those things, Christmas will fall flat. Awake in us the same devotion as the drummer boy that we might experience Your “smile” these next few days. Amen.
Prayer Focus: for all of those reading this to experience closeness with Jesus this Christmas
Oakland’s Christmas Eve Candlelight Service is tomorrow night at 11pm. You are invited!
