Read Luke 12:27-28
But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? Luke 12:28
For many years, we have considered the idea of a second home in North Carolina which is the state where my husband was born. At least 3 times through the past 30 years we got as far as looking at property, but the time just did not seem right. Most recently, now that we have a son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter living in North Carolina, we really began to consider purchasing a second home near to them. Then we began the struggle to ascertain God’s will. We prayed. We weighed the pros and cons. We carefully considered our finances. Mostly I just wanted to be in a closer relationship with my granddaughter. I struggled to know if this was just my plans or if God ordained this pursuit. We forged ahead. We found the perfect little home only 3 miles from our son’s house. Our older son found himself in a situation that he needed to change his living circumstances and also wanted to move to North Carolina. The reasons to purchase the second home seemed to mount up in favor of this decision we were making. Still I felt ambivalence because I did not feel the answer from God was as obvious as all the reasons we were coming up with for the second home. We pushed ahead and put in a bid for the home and began to prepare for the move. Over the years, I had accumulated curtains that were stored in a tote on a top shelf. I had no windows for these curtains, but they reached out and grabbed me when I found them at various stores on great sales through the years. Little did I know that God was preparing my second home long before I even knew.
We purchased the second home and moved in. I had remembered those extra curtains and took them to our new home hoping we could use at least some of them. God’s sense of humor was in place and He was ready to give me the most positive confirmation that we had made the correct decision that He could use to speak to my woman’s heart. God used those curtains in a mighty confirmation. We had exactly the number of pairs of curtains for the windows in our new house. None were leftover. The size, the length, and, the width of the windows were all covered as if the curtains were custom made. God answered our prayers for His guidance and confirmation in the most common of items: curtains! God meets us where we are and speaks in ways that are personal and powerful. He knows what we need long before we can even form a thought on the matter. His perfect timing is manifest in many ways. As I learned, God will even use curtains to communicate the truth to us!
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for being a loving God. Let each of us seek your will and plan for our life. Your plans, not ours, are perfect. Amen.
