    Read Matthew 28:16-20

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”      Matthew 28:18-20

Every year we travel to Myrtle Beach; a couple times each year, to spend time with our daughter, Stacey, and her husband, Dave.  We have so much fun doing all kinds of things.  One of my favorite things to do is walk on the beach looking for shells, sharks teeth, all kinds of fossils, and watching people—especially the little kids laughing, excited, having a great time.  Last summer I was walking on the beach.  It was great.  Lots of shells were coming in with the tide.  I was looking down for treasures.  In front of me was a little boy about 3 years old.  He picked up a shell as he got a face-full of water.  He shook the water out of the shell and put it up to his ear.  He jumped as high as he could and shouted, “THIS ONE HEARS!  THIS ONE HEARS!”  He pulled me down to himself and held the shell up to my ear.  “THIS ONE HEARS!”, he shouted again.  Then off he went so excited!  He had to let everyone hear the ocean in that shell.  Wow!  So happy and full of joy.

Why can’t we be like this with our faith?  We have been given the greatest gift ever, and there is more than enough for everyone.  God sent His Son Jesus to live as a man on this earth, to live as one of us, to go through life resisting all temptation and be without sin, to die in our place for us; we, who are full of sin!  So we can be called sinless sons and daughters of God and live with God and Jesus in Heaven forever.  You see, Jesus arose from the dead, defeating death so that we might have eternal life.  That’s right; God made a way for even me.

Do you believe?  Not just that there is a God.  That is not enough, but in this God who made a way for us all if we choose to know him.  If you haven’t read his Holy Word, start with the New Testament.  See what you think.  He loves you!

PRAYER:  Father, help us to be excited to do your work that you have called us to do.  Help us to do it with joy and happiness in our hearts.  We ask that you send us opportunities to tell others about you in a loving way.  Lord, also help us to recognize these opportunities.  Let it be so!  Amen.
