Read Luke 4:16-21
Jesus told the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. They all ate and were satisfied. Matthew 15:35-37
“Today I will brighten someone’s day”, was a quote that I read from a book that day. I was thinking about this as I went about my day.
I went shopping with a friend in Hagerstown. We started out going the wrong way and got to our destination late. We went to several places and shopped around. We both decided it was time to eat but couldn’t decide so finally I said, “Let’s head to Sam’s Club. We can find something close.” We stopped at Boston Market, one of our favorite places. While we were sitting down at our table, I noticed an older gentleman sitting alone. I mentioned to my friend that I wondered if he was homeless. She said, “I believe you are right.” We talked to the server and she said, “He comes in a lot and sits alone and talks to customers and the help.” I told my friend, “I am buying him a meal.” We decided to get a gift card together. He had gone outside and walked around then came back in. We had decided to ask the server if she would give it to him, so he wouldn’t feel embarrassed or know who gave it to him. The server said he was a proud man and a veteran. We were still there when she gave it to him. The smile on his face was such a joy. Oh, the feeling in my heart at that time was so full of love!
Of all the things going on and the business of the day, we were guided to go to that restaurant to give a blessing and receive a blessing. There were three strangers who never actually met that day, but still felt the love from each other.
