service projects

Oakland Youth have been involved with a number of service projects both locally and in other states. Summer mission trips have gone to Shannondale in Jefferson County, Appalachian projects in Kentucky and Tennessee, the Cherokee Reservation in North Carolina, the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico, and even Puerto Rico. Tasks have ranged from scraping and painting, to fixing roofs and porches, to building handicap ramps, to helping conduct Vacation Bible School. Youth always return with a greater understanding and appreciation for cultures other than their own, and with a sense of having engaged in a Christ-like endeavor. Matthew 25:35

One of the highlights on the Youth calendar is a yearly retreat to help build supportive relationships, facilitate spiritual growth and develop a biblical worldview.
